Type of Reading: bedtime story, family reading, anytime reading, read aloud book, middle reader
Recommended Age: 4 to 8
Age Of Child: tarted reading with 4-year-old child
Little Kid Reaction: S/He loved the snowman face on the moon … and ran to the window to find him outside. We have had several requests to read this book.
Big Kid Reaction: This brings back memories of wishing for snow and no school! The illustrations are wonderful and the story is imaginative.
Pros: This is a fun book to share (and wish with) all winter. Everyone will enjoy it. The illustrations (painted on canvas) add texture to the story, just like snow.
Cons: None, really. There are a few pictures with evergreens that resemble Christmas trees. If you’re looking for a Christmas book, this is bigger than that. There are no direct alusions to Christmas.
Borrow Or Buy?: orrow, at least. This will be fun reading with a cup of cocoa or around the fire.
If You Liked This Book, Try: Snowman at Night, Sadie and the Snowman, and Stranger in the Woods.
Educational Themes: There is no tangible lesson in this story … only the power of positive thinking and the importance of having (and sharing) dreams.
We would like to thank The Reading Tub for this review.
